FPS Environmental Ltd have been appointed by Gloucestershire County Council to provide flood surveys to around 100-150 homes which were impacted by Storm Henk.
Regrettably, Storm Henk marked the most severe weather event to batter the region in a decade, tragically resulting in the loss of life when a tree fell on an individual.
The purpose of the Property Flood Resilience (PFR) repair grant scheme is to assist home and business owners to improve the flood resilience of their individual properties when they repair them after a flood. The outcome from this funding should be that if flooding were to reoccur, damage levels would be considerably lower, and property owners and businesses could return to their properties much more quickly.
Up to ÂŁ5,000 (including VAT) is available per property to make homes and businesses more flood resilient and to allow them to recover more quickly from future flooding.
The grant is available to improve the flood resilience of a property; it is not compensation for flood damage, nor is it to be used for speculative work. It is for improvements to a property to reduce future flood damage. Only fully completed works that improve the flood resilience of a property will be reimbursed.
The FPS Environmental team are on hand to complete risk assessments and surveys for the property, allowing homeowners to unlock and access funding to make their homes more resistant and resilient to flooding.
Our team of highly-qualified flood risk consultants specialise in accurately assessing and managing risk across the flood, water and environmental sectors. We have been involved in conducting flood surveys for the DEFRA grant scheme since its inception in 2015, and have surveyed hundreds of properties allowing residents to access grant funding.
Sadly, the grant allowance has not increased since 2015, and we have been both campaigning and lobbying for this to be altered with inflation. Our surveyors will assess the risk, construction style, drainage, and client goals, before compiling a plan of action for the next steps.
