The Flood Map Chat service help customers to understand their flood risk better without an in-depth survey or assessment, often when customers contact FPS Environmental, they have little understanding of what service they need, we developed this initial call to better help get understanding and clarity on what the best course of action may be.

Please be aware we cannot discuss best mitigation options, that is included in more in-depth surveys. Flood Map Chat is an initial call to discuss concerns around a property using available flood data.

If your project requires tailored support outside the scope of a Flood Survey or FRA, our consultants can meet you on site. This is especially valuable in:

• Pre-planning discussions: working with architects, planning consultants or builders to understand feasibility before committing to a Flood Risk Assessment.
• Drainage concerns: assessing on-site issues to develop a clear plan of action.
• Environmental Permits: advising on Flood Risk Activity Permits or Environmental Permits, including the requirements for constructing flood walls or other defences.
• Feasibility assessments: understanding whether development is viable on land at flood risk.

A site meeting or walkover allows us to get a first-hand view of your property, business or land, giving better context than a remote call. With consultants located across the UK, we are well placed to conduct site visits. Prior to attending site, our team will require a phone call to better understand the issues or goals, such that we can allocate the most appropriate person from our team.

If further works are needed following the visit, we are then in an informed position to prepare a scope of works and quotation tailored to your requirements, such as a full permit application. Consultancy is normally charged at our day rates plus travel, making it a cost-effective way to establish the right next steps.

At the highest level of our consultancy offering, we act as Expert Witnesses in flood and drainage disputes. This involves the production of CPR 35 compliant reports, ensuring independence and clarity when providing evidence to the court.

Cases often involve disagreements between parties on matters such as flood risk, property damage, or drainage responsibilities.
