Land Development Engineering
Land development engineering designs infrastructure, drainage, and utilities to support sustainable and compliant site development.

Transform land into an eco-friendly and environmentally fit area for commercial, industrial or residential use.
Any new development, from a new home extension to a multi-unit residential housing or commercial estate, needs to consider a wide range of engineering aspects to ensure the most suitable and efficient development.
What is Land Development Engineering?
Our land development engineering input helps to guide a development site through the concept stages to ensure engineering matters, such as drainage, utilities, levels features and access issues are considered early-on, saving costs in the long-term.
As for any new development, it is important to consider a sites inherent constraints to help value engineer a development and ensure its compliance with Building Regulations and Local Design Standards such as from the Highway Authority and SuDS Control Body.
What is Included in a Land Development Report?
We can feed into the design process as part of your wider design team and work with the architect to ensure that the layout considers the topography, and that appropriate space is made to meet the drainage needs of the site. We find that getting involved early ensures that a development layout is achieved sooner and that less changes are required in the long run to achieve a compliant design.
We take great care as part of our design process to look for the most efficient design solution that is the most appropriate for the site and the development aspirations. This could entail maximising the developable area on a commercial site or designing a multi-use green infrastructure space with natural aesthetic appeal for a residential development, with the design helping advance the Biodiversity Net Gain.
When do you Need a Land Development Report?
Infrastructure and levels constraints can be a major cost impact on a project, but working with the topography and considering retaining features early on can help reduce the costs and make any abnormally known. We can work with proving layouts and provide a broad assessment of the general site levels, identifying significant areas of retaining, tanking and under build (the substructure), and subsequently make recommendations and suggestions to help ease these areas.
This approach looks to minimise spend at the early stages, while ensuring the project is achievable and budgeted appropriately, allowing developments to be designed to best suit a sites characteristic.
